Green Light
sponsored by Creative Loop
Green Light is the Celtic Media Festival's strand for Media Students.
This year we once again invited media students and new entrants from across the Celtic regions to take part in a diverse and focused programme of events covering various aspects of the media today. Attendees were also able to be part of everything the main Festival had to offer: the networking, the awards ceremonies and the socialising.

Attendees of Green Light had the opportunity to win themselves an iPod touch by entering our 1 Minute Film competition. Each film must have a maximum duration of 60 seconds and must be based on the theme of Green.
This year's winning film was The Green Eyed Monster which was created by Laurence Woods and Kirsty Pettitt of Aberdeen College.
This year's programme
Some of the highlights included:
- Meet the Filmmaker - Alison Millar. From her award-winning documentary At Home with the Clearys', which was largely based on self-shot footage taken when she was a film student, to the hard hitting topics she has been working on recently, Alison discusses everything from how to get started to how to cope with sensitive and controversial subject matter.
- Big Ideas, Small Budget. Claire Mundell and Justin Molotnikov of Synchronicity Films reveal what it takes to get a feature film off the ground. As the Producer and Director of CRYING WITH LAUGHTER, Claire and Justin discuss their experiences of developing a project from an early treatment to an (award winning!) finished product.
- Multiplatform Mania! The days of a television programme being just a programme are over. Now we have partner sites, blogs, twitter feeds and more to add to the viewing experience. Dylan James, master of multiplatform projects at BBC Wales, talks about the new ways we are interacting and tells us what else might be in store.
- The Cameraman and Language of Television. Every director, cameraman and television professional use the same vocabulary to communicate shot sizes, moves and directions. Colin McNeilly, a BBC Northern Ireland cameraman, discusses this and other camera fundamentals such as framing, moving cameras, and basic lighting setups.
You can see details of all of the Green Light sessions in the Programme section of the website.
