Carwyn James - rugby legend, national hero. His visionary achievements in coaching the Lions and Llanelli to victories over the All Blacks were those of a complex, troubled man. In this feature-length drama-documentary, Aneirin Hughes portrays Carwyn in his last days, alone in Amsterdam, a sensitive, educated soul whose success in the macho world of rugby masked unendurable physical and emotional torment. With insights from players - including Barry John and John Dawes - from friends, family and colleagues,  and footage of the great games, ‘Carwyn' takes the measure of the man.  His suffering was huge. His greatness, his humanity shine through.
