Eòrpa – MH17
Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in a rebel held area of Eastern Ukraine on 17th July 2014. All 283 passengers on board, including 80 children, were killed. The majority of passengers were Dutch citizens and Eòrpa travelled to the Netherlands to speak to the affected families. The programme brings together some of those who lost family in MH17 with the relatives of those lost in an earlier air tragedy – the Lockerbie disaster of 1988 when a bomb brought down a trans-Atlantic flight. The meeting between the families was a deeply moving experience.
