RTÉ lyric fm Opera Night
Robert O'Dwyer's ‘Eithne’ live from the NCH, Dublin. In this adaptation of an ancient Irish legend, the mortal son of Ireland's High King falls in love with the magical Eithne, daughter of the King of Tír na nÓg. This is the opera performance since 1909. A rare example of an opera in the Irish language. Eithne stars acclaimed artists Orla Boylan, Gavan Ring and Robin Tritschler. The Opera Theatre Company Chorus and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Fergus Sheil. The radio presentation is bilingual. The performance was video-streamed and simulcast on RnaG to mark this momentous occasion.
