Cogadh ar Mhná

For years, the Irish Revolution was thought of as exceptional in that sexual violence wasn’t seen as part of it, even though it happens in other wars. But was Ireland really so special? Was the nature of war here so very different from war everywhere else? This documentary argues the answer is no by telling for the first time the witness testimony of women who were victims of sexual violence during the Irish Revolution, in their own words, showing that these acts were perpetrated by all sides in the conflict and that women were repeatedly silenced.
