What makes radio special is its intimacy and its ability to respond quickly to developing events, and this was certainly put to the test in the early months of 2020 as news of storms and floods dominated the headlines in Wales, quickly followed by a global pandemic that changed our way of life. As life changed, our service evolved and provided additional news, information and advice, as well as the much-needed entertainment, comedy, music, culture and companionship that our audiences wanted. This year, more than ever, in the face of such uncertainty, Radio Cymru felt close to the communities and people we serve, and our loyal audiences demonstrated unprecedented appreciation through their letters, phone calls, and online engagement.
