Family Support Fund - For Carers with Careers

Please Note: The Family Support Fund is only able to help with alternative care arrangements. If COVID-19 means you are unable to pay household bills or meet other costs related to your family’s welfare. Urgent Financial Support may be available. Alternatively, you can join our newsletter for information about the Covid-19 Film and TV Emergency Relief Fund, which will be launched shortly.

    About the awards
The Family Support Fund aims to help screen industry professionals with caring responsibilities to protect and advance their careers.

    How?
By providing targeted short-term support to individuals or families to help with the costs of alternative arrangements for those they care for incurred while pursuing their careers.

This may be while you attend interviews or professional meetings, work on location, or go to training or networking events. Support is open to those with any kind of primary or co-caring responsibility, whether that’s for children, partners, parents, or, at our discretion, other significant acquaintances.

The Family Support Fund offers awards up to a maximum of £1,500 per person per year. To avoid encouraging reliance, we will only provide support for a period of 1 year at a time and will not accept further requests for support for a period of 1 year after the end of support.

    Are you eligible?
The fund is open to anyone with two years of professional experience, consecutive or cumulative, gained in any behind-the-camera role in film, television or exhibition. At our discretion, some of that experience may be in unpaid work, like internships or work placements, but these must have been conducted in a professional setting.

Applicants must have a family income of not more than £50,000 per annum.

We’re looking for applications which show a clear and realistic set of goals for the supported activity, and make a convincing case about how the achievement of these goals will ultimately help the applicant achieve professional security, whether by positively moving them forward in their career or by averting a significant risk.
