Call of the Dark

Irish people hate the long dark evenings. Much discussed in disgust around the country, most of us have a real aversion to the evenings ‘closing in’ – except for writer Michael Harding. In Call of the Dark, Harding invites us to look at the darkness in a different way, encouraging us to enter into it. Best known for his memoir about depression, Staring at Lakes, Harding invites the listener to his home and writing studio in Arigna in Leitrim. This feature is a lyrical celebration of the darkness.
