Build It Scotland

Addressing a digital skills gap, BBC Scotland engaged young people to create their favourite buildings and local landmarks in 3D modelling tools like Minecraft. Supported by a range of specially produced BBC resources and pop-up support sessions, children submitted their buildings which were added to a bespoke map of Scotland, built entirely in Minecraft. Working with libraries, the buildings were then also printed out in 3D to make a complementary physical map. The maps were exhibited as part of the Festival of Architecture finale and a YouTube sensation narrated their own adventure exploring the final map for the BBC finale.
