Feen of the Tober
Jack Delaney is a young Irish Traveller fiercely proud of his heritage. A talented singer and songwriter, he has a degree in Irish, but the language he is focussing on now is Shelta, Gammon or Cant, the native language of the Travelling community. His ambition is to create a comprehensive digital resource of the language, to spark a revival of interest among young Travellers. This trilingual documentary, produced by Niamh Costigan, is a fascinating portrait, both of a remarkable individual and of a unique language that has much to teach all of us about our collective history and heritage.
