The New Scots
The New Scots is a series of three films commissioned by BBC Scotland to explore the stories of people who have made Scotland their home. We follow Marwa, a Syrian refugee turning from personal tragedy to education, Harry, who’s move to Scotland precipitated a journey of self-discovery and Himmel, who left the metropolis of Dhaka for the Isle of Skye. The series received over 1.5 million views across Facebook and Twitter with an overwhelmingly positive response, collecting thousands of likes, shares and comments. They were also retweeted by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, with #NewScots briefly trending on Scottish Twitter.
