Radio Galega

Radio Galega is the public radio of Galicia, whose broadcasts began on March 29, 1985. Its activity is inspired by the principles of respect and defense of information; the promotion and dissemination of Galician culture and language, as well as the defense of the identity of Galicia; the promotion of regional audiovisual production and broadcasting that contribute to the projection of Galicia abroad; and the reflection of the ideological, political, cultural and social pluralism of Galicia. In the 22-23 season, Radio Galega became one of the most innovative broadcasters in Spain with the highest audience figure in its history with the launch of a state-of-the-art visual radio studio for the development of simultaneous broadcasts for radio, television and digital environments - web and social networks - It also consolidated the native digital podcast platform Radio Galega Podcast, which won two regional awards for the programs "A country at war", about the war in Ukraine, and "Superando a fiction", about great universal stories around cinema. All this, in a context of growth of linear and digital audiences. The program Galicia por Diante is the most relevant of the station in terms of the development of Galician news and audience monitoring. It is a space that combines global information from a Galician point of view, the deployment of reporters throughout the Galician territory every day, sections with recognized voices from Galicia and humor. The programs specialized in the primary sectors of Galicia, Mar de Ardora -about fishing- and Ferrado e Medio -about agriculture-, went around all over the country, preparing special issues on site and also from the main production centers of Galicia. It is a mirror of the economic reality of the country. Also, every morning from Monday to Sunday, Radio Galega broadcasts live programming through the program Pensando en Ti, based on audience participation. The program will make now its 27th season. Pensando en ti is unique in the spanish radio panorama. There is no any alike live programme with such a length and at that time slot. Its popularity is such that eight out of ten Galicians who listen to the radio in Galicia in the morning connect with this program, whose presenter, Marcial Mouzo, was a finalist in the 2022 Celtic Media Festival awards. The cultural programming refers to all cultural disciplines in Galicia, being the most complete cultural offer thanks to its linear programs and the news offered by the website diariocultural.gal. This program launched the Zeta version, aimed at people of generation Z and made by journalists under 30 years old. In addition to the visual work, it is one of the spaces with the more outdoor shootings on the occasion of premium cultural events. Radio Galega combines entertainment and coverage of local and global news events with the production of special news programs based on major events such as elections. In July 2023, Galician Radio faced the call for early General Elections with a five-hour and fifteen-minute program live, with dozens of journalists deployed throughout the Galician territory and the headquarters of the political parties, together with the analysis of analysts and opinion leaders.
