Scrum V: The Llandow Air Disaster

On the 12th of March 1950, the day after Wales secured their first Triple Crown in 39 years, a plane crashed into the ground near the village of Siginstone in the Vale of Glamorgan. There were 78 Welsh rugby supporters and five crew members on board. Eighty people died in the worst aviation disaster the world had seen at that time. Seventy years on and with the story largely forgotten, Gareth Rhys Owen and the Scrum V team take an emotional and ultimately personal journey to discover how this seismic event has been lost in the annuls of history.
