Role Responsibility

As Presenter/Researcher you will work as part of the BBC Gàidhlig production team who provide a range of content for BBC ALBA, the ALBA website and BBC Radio Nan Gàidheal. 

This post is based within the newly formed children’s Gaelic production team who supply Cbeebies and CBBC content to BBC ALBA on a daily basis 1700 and 1900. 

BBC Gàidhlig is looking for presenters who are able to present content to the 3 to 6 year age group and also for  presenters who are able to present content to 7 to 12 year age group in an age appropriate manner.

The television presenter is the public face for the children’s content and should be able to project the right type of personality onscreen. The job includes presenting information, introducing people and elements, interviewing contributors, linking between segments and taking part in various onscreen activities.

As part of your presenter role, you will be one of the principal presenters on the children’s block on the channel and one of the public faces of the channel.  You will script links, various features and programme elements as required and present the material in an engaging and lively style that is suitable for the audience.

As part of your research, you will speak to many different people each day and help decide on the stories and ideas worth pursuing.

Such research may involve finding and contacting individuals and organisations; finding locations for filming; making a preliminary selection of suitable material.

 

Are you the right candidate?

The Key requirements are a passion for children’s programming, a very high level of fluency in spoken and written Gaelic, an ability to present live and pre-recorded material for television, radio and online. A lively personality, positive attitude, initiative and the ability to relate well to children and youths.

You will need to have a good understanding of television production techniques and presentation skills and procedures and be able to present the programme in a lively and engaging manner, prepare scripts, rehearse and assist with filming.

We're looking for someone who has experience of interviewing children/contributors on location or in the studio including the use of portable equipment.
