Roald Dahl’s City of the Unexpected

As part of this year’s Roald Dahl centenary celebrations Connie Fisher presented exclusive highlights for BBC Wales from a magical, inspirational event. Roald Dahl’s extraordinary imagination has inspired generations of children – young and old. He has been part of our bed-time story-telling rituals. He has fired our childhood adventures. To celebrate this legacy Dahl’s birthplace hosted one of the most ambitious and magical transformations ever staged as Wales Millennium Centre and National Theatre Wales joined forces to bring Dahl's universe of amazing and surreal characters to life in surprising places across Cardiff city centre. From giant peaches to fantastic foxes the city transformed itself into a place of wonder, surprise and pure imagination to become the City of the Unexpected.
