It was arguably the Sporting moment in Ireland in 2015. In October of that year Shane Long blasted the ball past Manuel Neur as the Republic of Ireland defeated the World Champions, Germany in the European Championships qualifiers Shane Long's goals against Poland and against Germany, were worth 4 points to the Republic of Ireland and helped Martin O'Neill's side to qualify for the 2016 European Championship finals in France. In this production for the Sports review of the year on RTE Radio One, Adrian Eames went to Southampton to get Shane's reflections on the year and to his old National school in Gortnahoe in County Tipperary.
