Cymru v Gwlad Belg
2016 was the year that Europe took notice of “little” Wales. Not only had it been 58 long years since Wales last appeared in a major football tournament, but they also defied all expectations by going on to reach the semi-finals and beat Belgium’s “Golden Generation” in the quarter final. This 3-1 win was the game of the tournament, the game which saw Gareth Bale and co beat the scond best nation in the world, emphatically. The summer of 2016 will be long remembered in Wales, the year Europe fell in love with Wales, its football team, its supporters and the Welsh language - and Radio Cymru's commentary team reminded us all that they, too, can deliver in style.
