Santa Maria III a' Seòladh Dhachaigh
Producer Angela MacKinnon makes an emotional and nostalgic journey across the Minch from Mallaig back to her home island of Eriskay in the company of an old lady of the sea. Newly-restored by D A MacKinnon the Santa Maria III, is one of the last of the fleet of ring-net fishing boats, once a vital part of the island’s economy and community. For the former fisherman the project was a costly but worthy one close to his heart and for Angela, the voyage was a deeply personal one that she felt compelled to undertake.
