Aberfan: Tip Number 7

On 21 October 1966, a coal waste tip surged down the mountainside above Aberfan in South Wales, engulfing the village school and surrounding houses – killing 116 children and 28 adults. A tale of unheeded warnings, broken promises and a shattered community’s fight for justice, podcast series Aberfan: Tip Number 7 lays bare one of Wales’ worst disasters – and the decades of injustice that followed. Surviving children and rescuers join bereaved parents and siblings to tell their stories, from the desperate search for survivors to their long and bitter battle for justice and compensation. This nine-part podcast series explores how this avoidable tragedy happened; and why, to this day, no-one has been held accountable. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p09z3n7y
