Drowned - The Flooding of a Village

It’s a dark and controversial chapter in Welsh history; sixty years ago, three young men scramble through deep snow in the dead of night to break into the Tryweryn reservoir construction site in North Wales – and plant a bomb. Families in the village of Capel Celyn are forced to leave; and in 1965, their homes, school, chapel and cemetery disappear beneath the new lake, Llyn Celyn - built to provide drinking water for Liverpool. The bombing sparks decades of unrest. Journalist Betsan Powys grew up with this story; but what she discovers in making this seven-part podcast, leaves her shocked.
