Week In Week Out - Cardiff To Syria: Journey To Jihad
The programme investigated three young Muslim men who left Cardiff to fight a holy war in Syria and were thrust into the limelight in an IS propaganda video. We were able to secure the first interview on social media with one of the Cardiff IS members, who told us “jihad was obligatory” and he was willing to die for the cause. The programme gave a rare insight into the lives of the three men. Despite the complexities of this story and the pressure to say something new, we successfully researched, filmed and delivered a hard-hitting investigative programme which had huge impact nationally in just 10 days.
