O Chonamara go Crimea

The story of a young Irishman who survived the Great Famine of 1845-1847, joined the British Army in 1851 and fought in the Crimean War of 1864 to 1856. He was wounded but survived and returned to Conamara. The documentary paints a picture of famine stricken Connemara and the horrors of the Crimean War. Contributors includes descendants of Patrick Gannon, military experts, local singers and storytellers. Drama, song and letters recount the experience from both the Allied and Russian soldiers during the war.
