Redress: Breaking the Silence
In 1999, a ground-breaking documentary series on RTÉ Television revealed horrific abuse in Ireland’s industrial and reformatory schools. The series caused a national outcry and led to survivors of abuse being given a state apology and promises to make amends. Twenty years on, a new two-part documentary series explores what actually happened to survivors since that landmark apology, and how the State dealt with the legacy of decades of institutional abuse. The series features the stories and experiences of seven survivors of institutional abuse based in Ireland and the UK.
