Blas Ceoil

Caoimhe ‘Ceol’ Ní Chathail presents a weekly one hour, Irish language programme trad music on BBC Radio Ulster introducing upcoming and current folk and trad music artists. Normally live, due to various Covid restriction issues, this entry is a special pre-recorded edition of Blas Ceoil, recorded in Cumann Chluain Árd in Belfast to celebrate ‘Seachtain na Gaeilge’ 2021 which features live music and interviews. It was their first 'as live' concert and ours too, since the start of the pandemic. Features performances from a range of musical talent including Belfast session musicians Desy Downey (fiddle), Ciara Kearney (accordion), Claire McGreevy (guitar), Clann Uí Luachráin (wooden flute, concertina and harp) and the Music in The Glen trio Brendan Mullholland (wooden flute), Conor Lamb (uilleann pipes) and Deirdre Galway (guitar). This special edition of the programme will also feature traditional songs from emerging artist Miadhachlughain O’Donnell.
