Néara-éagsúlacht - Dearcadh Difriúil

One in 66 Irish people are neurodivergent, yet this complex definition, which encompasses autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, and dyslexia, is still largely misunderstood by many parts of Irish society. In this two-part eye-opening observational documentary series, we aim to completely change the narrative around neurodivergence through showing for the first time the full spectrum of these unique sometimes devastating but often life affirming conditions through the experience of those directly experiencing it. In this pioneering two-part documentary, we learn over the course of one jam-packed year the true potential that exists through following a unique group who all identify as neurodivergent, as they each approach a crucial crossroads in their life. They have all choosen to tell their stories to inspire hope and open conversation and to change the current narrative around neurodivergence in this country. From fear and misunderstanding we want to create understanding and spread hope. The concept that these different minds can greatly enrich society is continuously evolving internationally. In Ireland, however, limited access to necessary services and a misunderstanding of neurodivergence as a whole has meant that thousands of neurodivergent children and adults are missing out on the opportunity to reach their full potential every single day. The following storylines will bring those struggles home and show us as a society we all have a role to play in creating a truly inclusive Ireland.
