Trip yr Ysgol Gymraeg
Back to winnersThe first private Welsh language school
was opened in Aberystwyth in 1939, but on St David's day 1947, the
first local authority Welsh language school was opened in Llanelli,
an important step on the road to provide free Welsh language education
for every child in Wales.
Today, tens of thousands of children
all over Wales receive an education through the medium of Welsh.
International rugby star Nicky Robinson, who is himself a product of
a Welsh school and students from Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg,
go on a trip through Wales to pursue the history of Welsh medium education.
